The Maryfield School was excited to host Weston Bakeries representatives, Ken Goodwin from Winnipeg and Jason Yeo from Regina, on Friday October 7th. They presented Sandra Stewart, the teacher who initiated the entry to the Wonder Cares Fitness Challenge national competition, a large ceremonial cheque for $10 000 which will go directly to a playground apparatus. The Weston officials and Mrs. Stewart cut a special cake made for the occasion. As well, every student and staff member received a loaf of Wonder bread to take home.
Weston’s donated hamburger buns, Horizon Meats donated the processing of the burgers, the Arlington Hotel donated the beef, and the Maryfield Cornerstore and Old Dutch donated the potato chips for a burger luncheon organized by the Maryfield School Grads. The employees of these establishments, including the Maryfield School Community Council, were treated to lunch by the student council.
