January News 2012
Admin Report:
Happy New Year and Welcome Back Everyone! We hope that everyone has had a fantastic break and are all rested up for the New Year.
In the spirit of giving, or in our case receiving, we would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to Chris Terrett (one of our parents) for donating a SMART BOARD to our grade 2 classroom. We plan to have it installed in January. We now have data projectors in all the classrooms, but we still need more smart boards, anyone interested in contributing, please let the school know.
We would like to express our thanks for your attendance on Christmas performance night here at school. Each year we are amazed at the number of people showing up to the concerts. Thanks also to the cast, support crew and many teacher/directors who worked so hard at providing the entertainment. Special thanks to Mrs. E. Bangsund and Mrs. A. Kuntz for all of their passion and commitment to making our concerts absolutely awesome for the last 9 years.
Our next stage performance is with our Middle Year students who will be doing a play in mid-February. Students are already practising their ‘Showcase’ which is titled, “Flashback to the Ridge.”
Basketball will be starting in January. There will be teams in grades 5 through 8. Look for schedules and details coming out soon. As well, there will soon be some information coming out regarding the Grade 8 ski trip to Asessippi which will be on Mar. 19 & 20.
There is staff professional develop on Fri. Jan. 30, no school for the students. The staff will be working on the School Improvement Plan.
Please note that our next set of Parent Conferences are in March (evening of the 28th and 29th). Once again, the students will be leading part of the conference.
Well that is about it for now, stay warm and be sure to keep those New Years’ Resolutions

Items to Note For January
We are sorry to have to announce that the cost of chocolate milk is on the rise. We are now being charged $10 per week as a delivery charge. This forces us to raise the price to 75 cents. We have not had to raise the price for 9 years and hopefully we won’t have to raise it again for another 9 years!
Junior Choir
Junior Choir starts up again on Wednesday, January 11, and will continue on Wednesdays from 12:10 -12:40 until the end of March. All students in Grades 3-5 are welcome to join! Please send a lunch that does not need to be microwaved on Wednesdays.
Spirit Day
Our Student Leadership Council has set aside Friday, January 20 for “Stripe Day”.
