The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) has selected Queen Elizabeth School in Weyburn, SK to participate in its award-winning Energy in Action Program. Energy in Action is a one-day, energy literacy program offered during the month of May, at NO COST to rural schools across Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Grades 5 and 6 were selected to participate in this educational event as it complements the science and social studies curriculum. Students will be exposed to areas such as petroleum, the oil and gas industry and the importance of environmental stewardship in their playground and community.

Energy in Action consists of four main components:
·         An interactive, curriculum-relevant classroom presentation in the morning;
·         A catered lunch for teachers, community members and volunteers from local oil and gas member companies;
·         A field-based “action” activity in the afternoon;
·         A donation of environment and natural resource-related books to the school library
The one day workshop will see the Inside Education delivering the curriculum portion of the program to the students. During the afternoon session, students will be able to connect with the stewardship principles through a hands-on naturalization project. CAPP will donate up to $5,000 for the project, and will work with the school and parent council to plan and source all the materials.
The Queen Elizabeth School is honoured to have been selected and looks forward this interactive and educational opportunity.
