Past student of Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS), Ashley Hilkewich, has been named one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women in the category of Future Leaders. The announcement was made by the Women’s Executive Network during their ninth annual summit of professional achievements.
Hilkewich earned the prestigious title because of her five year tenure with the Free the Children Network (FCN) as their Partner Relations and International Operations Director; a role which afforded her the opportunity to share the joys of volunteering with others. It was during her time at ECS that Hilkewich was so inclined to international travel and assistance through her participation in a two- month Rotary International Student Exchange trip to South Africa. The FCN, founded by Craig Kielburger, allowed Hilkewich to do international voluntary work which encapsulated child freedom from poverty, exploitation and a sense of powerlessness.
These days the full time Administration in Sustainable Business Graduate Student still finds time to execute volunteer and consultancy work for the Free the Children Network and other like-minded corporations whose mandate includes an expansion of their corporate social responsibility partnerships and enterprises.
Hilkewich encourages ECS graduates to “get out and see the world…get involved in something you can be passionate about, something that can be more than a hobby. Just take a leap, grab an opportunity and live it.”
The SECPSD and the ECS laud the outstanding accomplishments of Ashley Hilkewich as she continues to make an indelible mark in the lives of others.
