Happy New Year to everyone! The Board of Education extends best wishes to all staff and students for a successful 2012 school year. The Board would like to give a warm welcome to April Lawrence, our new Communications Officer. April’s most recent experience was as PMI Student Communications Director at Centennial College. Prior to that, she worked as Assistant Director for Freshman Advisement, Recruitment, and Retention at the Northern Caribbean University. We look forward to working with April.
On behalf of the Board, I would like to extend congratulations to Janet Foord on her re-election as vice president of the SK School Boards Association. Janet is one of our Board members from Estevan. Janet’s experience and knowledge brings valuable expertise to her role at the provincial level.
We are eagerly anticipating conversations with School Community Councils’ Chairpersons and representatives at upcoming meetings to be held in Moosomin, Jan. 11th, Weyburn, Jan. 12th, and Estevan, Jan. 16th. SCC’s are an integral support to their schools and a connection to their communities and the Board of Education. The Board sincerely thanks all those who are members of SCCs for your commitment to the students and schools in your area. The Annual Meeting of Electors will be held at the Board Office in Weyburn on Thursday, Feb. 16th at 1:30. Everyone is welcome. The Boards’ regular meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of every month at 1:00 in Weyburn. These meetings are open to the public as well.
