Arcola School’s Grade 3 class celebrated Canada’s 52nd Flag Day with a formal ceremony and centre activities. Students were encouraged to wear red and white and bring 10 Canadian items for our class collection. To kick our celebration off, we gathered around our school flag pole as Mr. Dukart raised our special Ottawa Parliament flag, and sang O’Canada. The formal ceremony began with a heartfelt Canadian citizenship speech from Mr. Kevin Hengen. Next, Mr. Wardrope had each student reaffirm their Canadian Citizenship oath and Canadian certificates and pencils were given. The remainder of the day was spent learning about Canada’s flag, Inukshuks, Totem poles, RCMP, and many more topics. Overall, it surely was a fun-filled day that staff and students are sure to remember! Happy Canada Flag Day!
