Students in Gr 3/5, 5 and 6 classes joined together in the school gym to receive Ghanaian Dance and Music instruction Live from Regina.
Ghanaian dance and music are used to celebrate birth, puberty rites, marriage and death. Students will learn a traditional, recreational, and social dance titled Gahu. Chancz Perry taught students movement sequences while Godknows (native of Ghana) accompanied with percussive instrumentation. Students were given a taste of Ghana as they developed understanding through demonstration, interaction, repetition, and play.
