Newer Announcements and Reminders

 

The Library will be closed to students in Period 3 & 4 on Thursday, April 27th due to the Horizons Conference.

 

There was only one Grad coordinator nominated for next year, so nomination forms are at the office wicket for more nominations.  Please nominate, as one coordinator is not enough; three would be ideal. 

 

There are nomination forms for Graduation speeches for 2017 Graduation at the office wicket. Please nominate someone for Tribute to the Parents, Tribute to the Teachers, Tribute to the Grads, and Valedictorian. 

 

Reminder to Grade 12s: Send a maximum of 5 pictures of yourself to wcsgradvideo@gmail.com.  Do not include cap & gown pictures.  The deadline is April 20th.

 

The next meeting of Book Club will be on Wednesday, May 10th after school, in Mrs. Torgunrud's classroom.

 

Anybody interested in playing football should meet in Mr. Abel's room for a short meeting today after school about Spring Camp. All Bantam players should attend, as well.

 

Attention all Track athletes:

There will be a very important meeting today (Wednesday) at the start of your lunch to sign-up for your track events for the upcoming meets.

Grade 10-12 meet in Mrs. Gall's room 543 at the start of period 3

Grade 7-9 meet in the Cugnet Centre at the start of period 4

Track Practices for the week of April 24-28

Be prepared to go outside, so dress appropriately!!

Wednesday – 7-12 running, 9-12 throwing, Gr 7-8 jumping on Wednesday

Thursday – 7-12 running, 7-8 throwing, Thursday to 7-12 jumps.

Friday – 7-12 running

Noon practices this week for long and triple jumpers in grade 7-8:

Due to conflict with band, all Grade 8s will jump at noon on Wednesday and

All grade 7s can jump at noon on Thursday.

Students who are driving through the Soo Line Day Care alley and parking lot, you are asked to STOP driving through there!!!  There is a "safety issue" with young children being picked up and dropped off .  The Police have been informed and will be watching and issuing tickets if you continue.  Soo Line is also taking down licence plates #'s and vehicle discriptions for the police.

Any Grade 9s wanting to save their Drug Fair projects will need to pick them up from the classroom today! Anything left behind will be tossed in the garbage at 3:32!

Newer Announcements and Reminders

 

Just a reminder to Grade 12's to send in a maximum of 5 pictures of themselves to WCSgradvideo@gmail.com for the Grad Video.  Do not include cap & gown pictures.  The deadline is April 20th.

 

Todate there are no Nominations for Grad Co-ordinators for next year.  If no one is interested in taking this on, there will not be a Chem Free Grad next year.

Nomination forms for the 2018 Grad Co-ordinators can be picked up at the wicket beside the front office.  Deadline for nominations is April 13th.  Only current Grade 11's can nominate.

 

The theatre club members are asked to meet in Mrs. Kennedy-Allin's room on Thursday morning at 8:40 for our yearbook photo.

 

Grade 9 Only - Mini Go swimming will take place tomorrow (Thursday) of this week.  This is the last one, so we will join our buddies afterwards for lunch.

 

Grade 12's off to pursue a post-secondary education in Business please come to an informational meeting for the SK High School Case Competitions (May 4th/May5th) on Wednesday, April 12th in Mrs. Arnold's computer lab after Period 2.  The meeting will only be 20 minutes - 1/2 hour...bring your lunch or you'll have time to eat after.    If you cannot attend, you MUST stop by, email or text Mrs. Arnold.  

 

Bros Club on Wednesday no permission form needed today.  Meet in Mr.Olsons room.

Anyone interested in playing womens soccer this year?? If so, there is a team in Weyburn that is part of the Estevan league. Most games are in Estevan, but there are a few in Weyburn. It's $120 for the season and starts the Wednesday after May long weekend. You need to be in grade 10 or higher. If interested, see Ms. Shuya for registration forms!

 

Weyburn Travel club - If you are currently in grade 9, 10 or 11 and are interested in joining the 2018 Weyburn travel club tour to Europe, the Registration deadline has been set at April 30th. The trip next year will be touring through Germany, Czech Republic, Austria and Switzerland! There will not be a tour in 2019 so this will be the only tour through our club until 2020! Please see Mr. Kerr in the Eagle gym if you have any questions or if you need more information about registration.

Theatre Club members are asked to meet in Mrs. Kennedy-Allin's room on Thursday morning at 8:40 for our yearbook photo.

 

A reminder that the Grade 9 Anti-Drug Fair is this afternoon from 1:15-2:30.  Grade 9s are expected to be in the Cugnet Centre to set up during Period 4 lunch.  At 2:30, the Grade 9s will head to the Band room for their guest speaker.  Grade 7/8 teachers, please feel free to bring your classes down anytime from 1:15-2:30.

 

Grade 9 Only - Mini-Go swimming will take place on Thursday of this week.  This is the last one, so we will join our buddies afterwards for lunch.

Newer Announcements and Reminders

 

Attention all Grade 7-12 Track athletes: There will be practice today at 4 p.m.  Meet in the Eagle Gym, then we will go outside.  There are practice schedule outside of the Cugnet Centre and inside the Eagle Gym.

 

Travis and Curtis won gold at Estevan's Invitational Badminton tournament on the weekend!

 

GSA members: Please stop to see Mrs. Morrison sometime today. She has information on a Pride Meeting tonight at the Public Library.

ART CLUB for Grade 7-9 will take place on Monday, April 10, right after school from 3:32-5:00.  Any Grade 7-9 students who would like to do some watercolour painting are invited to attend.  You do not need to bring anything, just meet in Mrs. Mo's room (111).

Newer Announcements and Reminders

 

Grad Retakes will be on April 6, 2017.  Just a reminder that the cost is $20 for retakes so please bring cash if possible.  They had trouble with their ATM last time

 

Past Haig students:  if you want your ceiling tile that you have displayed at Haig School, you can stop by the school to come get it.  You need to go by this Thursday, April 6th otherwise they will be gone.  Haig is doing some renovations.

Sunday April 2nd is International Autism Awareness Day, the start of an entire month of autism awareness.  One way to show support and acceptance is to "Light It Up Blue". You may see some staff and students wearing blue today in support of this great cause.   Take some time to ask questions if you want to know more!

Former Haig students:  If you want your ceiling tile that was displayed at Haig School, stop by the school to get it.  You need to go by this Thursday, April 6th otherwise it will be gone due to renovations.

Junior Choir-Thursday after school

 

Travis F and Curtis R won gold in badminton on the weekend at the WCS Invitational Tournament.  Nolan L won silver.  There will be open badminton after school today (Monday) in the Eagle gym for any staff or students wishing to come out and play.

 

Congratulations to the Grade 8 and 9 students who competed at the 12-team tournament on the weekend. Lots of great placings and games played. Make sure you know when we practice this week!

Newer Announcements and Reminders

The new Driver Ed class starts this Saturday at 8 a.m. Please use the Cugnet Centre doors. Do not be late as Mrs. Vollbrecht will lock the doors after 8.

 

Graduates: Solo Italia fundraiser pick up is TODAY from 4 p.m.- 6 p.m. in the Mechanics shop. Everything needs to be picked up as there is nowhere to store it.

Newer Announcements and Reminders

 

There are a few volunteer opportunities coming up at Souris School. On April 3rd and 4th we will be hosting a carnival in the gym during Three-Way Conferences. We are looking for volunteers from 4:15 to 7:15. If anyone would like to volunteer, they can contact Shannon at 842-2721. The last group of volunteers did an amazing job!

 

Bro's Club is going bowling today. Please bring your permission form.  Meet in Mr. Olson's room after school.

Newer Announcements and Reminders

 

Congratulations to the Junior Badminton team on an excellent day at the ECS tournament on Saturday. They brought home 2 first places, 1 third place and 1 fourth place.

 

Attention All Track Athletes:

Track season is fast approaching and in order to be ready for next week there is an important package that all interested track athletes need to pick up.  Please read the package and fill out and return any forms.

Grade 7-8: Pick up the package at the office wicket.

Grade 9-12: Pick up the package out front of Mrs. Gall's room (543). 

Track practices will start next week.

 

Congratulations to all of the bands who performed last week at the Regina Optimist Festival!  The Senior Concert Band received 1 gold and two silver.  The Grade 8/9 Band received all silver and the Grade 7 Band received all gold! Well done!

Our spring musical this year is "High School Musical"!  If you are in Grades 10, 11, or 12 and would like to be a part of this musical in any way at all, please meet in the Choral Room on Thursday at 11:45. a.m.  This will be an organizational and sign-up meeting!  Rehearsals will begin next week!

 

Any students who would like to volunteer at the Provincial Cheerleading Championships on Saturday, March 25th please see Mrs. Moffatt in room 413.  There are a variety of jobs available throughout the day and you can probably even sneak a peek at the action!

 

Souris School has a volunteer opportunity on Friday, March 24th.  They will be running a day camp and taking students on a field trip. Volunteers arrive at 11 to set up activities. Souris School will provide all volunteers with a lunch. Students will be arriving at 1pm to 3pm.  To sign up to volunteer or if you have any questions please call Souris School 842-2721 and leave a message for Shannon Seitz.

 

Staff yoga is on for Tuesday, March 28.  Period 3 yoga will be in the Eagle's Gym for Gr.10-12 teachers and period 4 will be in the Cugnet Centre for Gr.7-9 teachers.  Bring a yoga mat if you have one.

In-Car Driver Training- When you see your name on  the schedule, it is up to you to make sure you do not have any quizzes or exams at the same time you are driving.  If you see a conflict, contact Mrs. Vollbrecht immediately to change your driving time.  It is not acceptable to notify her or Mrs. Fellner the day of your drive to say that you can't make it. Please do your part!

 

Grade 12 students:  Saskatchewan Polytechnic Information Night is on Tuesday, March 21st from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. You can register online in advance. See Student Services for more details.

 

There will be a Driver Training class offered this summer for 2 weeks.  Please listen to announcements for more information on dates and times.
